Professor Emeritus Michele Gore was at Eastern Kentucky University as a full-time faculty member from 1996 until retirement in 2013. Her research areas were child and practitioner experiences with sexual abuse and how foster youths aged out of foster care.  She has more than 20 years of social work experience, including 13 years in child protective services with Kentucky’s former Department for Social Services, and four years as a medical social worker in the emergency and pediatric departments of the University of Kentucky Hospital.

Since retirement she has volunteered with the Madison Homes Homeless Project and worked as an organic gardener for her church, which donated thousands of pounds of produce to soup kitchens and homeless shelters in Richmond Kentucky.  She now lives in Southport, NC and volunteers with a diaper ministry, as a historical chapel docent and with the homeless.
